Ecologically / environmentally friendly travel is known as Eco Tourism.    UN has declared 2002 as “The year of Eco Tourism”.

    1. Thani Illam is trying to be more eco friendly in the following ways:
      1. Thani Illam has modified the building using parts of demolished buildings – such as tiles, roof tiles, wooden parts (doors, windows etc.)
      2. Thani Illam building concept is to use the natural light and air to the maximum. Less consumption of electricity.
      3. Thani Illam is promoting the use of recycled products.
      4. Thani Illam is reducing the use of plastics, synthetic chemicals, petroleum products and other environmentally degrading products.
      5. Thani Illam is providing employment to the local community.

    3. Thani Illam is economic (cost effective or less costly) for those on a budget travel and for students / researchers.
    4. Thani Illam is promoting others in the same field
    5. Thani Illam is helping Government to preserve the old houses / buildings through educating, documenting and popularizing the concept of eco tourism.
